Use an independent shared bench test

Capture a synthetic input, then load and review a real test-file contract, compare with its value and refuse an invalid file without losing evidence.

For supervisors

Read these instructions on any device. Watch or practise a chapter on a desktop or laptop, with a desktop or mobile application layout. Demonstrations use sample data and simulated scanners.

Use an independent shared bench test

  1. Start capture in the focused box

Start capture in the focused box.

Start capture explicitly. Only this box collects keyboard input. These keystrokes are simulated; the course does not measure a physical scanner.

  2. Capture the test value

    Capture the test value.

Scan the shared bench test’s Code 128 value. Browser keyboard delivery is demonstrated; barcode optics and symbology decoding are not qualified.

  3. Inspect what arrived

    Inspect what arrived.

Step 2 shows exactly what arrived, in quotes, with hidden characters shown as codes. Leaving step 1 pauses capture.

  4. Load the prepared shared bench-test file

Load the prepared shared bench-test file.

In ordinary use, select a PrintBench test file in the file picker. This training control supplies a fixed synthetic file to the real importer. Nothing is uploaded.

  5. Select the independent Code 128 expectation

Select the independent Code 128 expectation.

Inspect the issuer and version, then select a known value. Importing previews inert data and sets no expectation until you choose one; the exact comparison then checks the scan against the imported payload.

  6. Refuse an invalid bench-test file

    Refuse an invalid bench-test file.

The actual importer refuses a duplicate JSON member. The existing expectation and completed capture remain unchanged.
