ParcelOffice for operator

Learn the scan sequence, eligibility check, booking boundary and attended PrintStation hand-off.

For operators

Read these instructions on any device. Watch or practise a chapter on a desktop or laptop, with a desktop or mobile application layout. Demonstrations use sample data and simulated scanners.

Book an order and prepare its label

  1. Station

    Station.

Open the browser paired to Bench 1. In a real site, an admin enrols and pairs each device before operators can use it.

  2. Start your own station session

    Start your own station session.

Use your own account. Starting here ends any previous operator session at this station, and your session elsewhere.

  3. Scan a preset before an order

Scan a preset before an order.

A preset on its own cannot book postage. Always scan and check the work order first.

  4. Load the work order

    Load the work order.

Check the recipient, Coventry postcode and parcel. Approved rules enable eligible presets; you still choose which preset to use in Manual mode.

  5. Refuse the wrong parcel preset

    Refuse the wrong parcel preset.

The long-box preset does not fit this accessories order. ParcelOffice refuses it rather than substituting another service or booking anyway.

  6. Book the approved small bag

    Book the approved small bag.

The preset scan commits the booking immediately. There is no extra confirmation. The server checks the source again and creates one carrier shipment. This demonstration uses a fake carrier.

  7. Prepare the existing shipment label

    Prepare the existing shipment label.

Preparing submits the saved label to PrintStation. The next button opens its attended print panel. Here the test service accepts the request, but no physical printer is connected.

  8. Return focus to the scanner

    Return focus to the scanner.

After using a print or form control, select the scan box before scanning again. The focus warning tells you when scanner input will not be received.

  9. Try the next order before printing

Try the next order before printing.

ParcelOffice keeps unfinished labels with their booking. Resolve printing, or explicitly leave the work for a supervisor, before changing orders.

  10. Leave unfinished labels for a supervisor

Leave unfinished labels for a supervisor.

This releases the bench while preserving the outstanding labels. It does not cancel the shipment, print anything or authorise another booking.
