Record, scan and find a suitable length

Record exact measurements, respect uncertainty and allowances, then look up piece and bin labels locally.

For operators

Read these instructions on any device. Watch or practise a chapter on a desktop or laptop, with a desktop or mobile application layout. Demonstrations use sample data and simulated scanners.

Record, scan and find a suitable length

  1. Import a prepared rack

    Import a prepared rack.

This synthetic backup enters the ordinary strict restore path. It has aluminium and steel pieces, including damaged and unchecked ones.

  2. Open the recording step

    Open the recording step.

Each record represents one physical piece. Measure it and check its condition before attaching a label.

  3. Try an invalid grouped number

    Try an invalid grouped number.

Lengths are exact values. A comma is refused rather than silently interpreted.

  4. Check the length refusal

    Check the length refusal.

The refused record leaves the rack unchanged.

  5. Enter an exact measured length

    Enter an exact measured length.

1250.125 mm is retained exactly, with three decimal places.

  6. Try uncertainty below the rack minimum

Try uncertainty below the rack minimum.

This rack requires at least 2 mm. A smaller value is not accepted.

  7. Read the measuring-practice refusal

    Read the measuring-practice refusal.

A reason cannot override a positive minimum uncertainty.

  8. Use the rack measuring practice

    Use the rack measuring practice.

The guaranteed length will be 1250.125 minus 2, which is 1248.125 mm.

  9. Record the measured offcut

    Record the measured offcut.

The app creates its own new identifier and appends history. Downloading a label does not prove it was printed or attached.

  10. Find a suitable length

    Find a suitable length.

A search changes no stock and reserves nothing.

  11. Ask for two blanks

    Ask for two blanks.

Each blank needs its own blade-width allowance.

  12. Set the finished length

    Set the finished length.

Use 600 mm for each blank.

  13. Read the cut allowances

    Read the cut allowances.

    Required length is N × (finished + extra) + N × blade width + trim + buffer. This rack uses 0, 3, 10 and 0 mm respectively.

  14. Run the search

    Run the search.

Two 600 mm blanks need 1216 mm with these reviewed defaults. A 1248 mm guaranteed piece leaves 32 mm spare. Damaged and unchecked pieces are excluded.

  15. Scan a piece label

    Scan a piece label.

A keyboard scanner or typed full OBP1 code looks up only this loaded rack. This is a synthetic value, not a live scanner check.

  16. Scan a bin card

    Scan a bin card.

OBL1 selects a bin and filters the local rack list. It does not verify physical put-away.

  17. Try an unknown label

    Try an unknown label.

A label from another rack has no cloud lookup. This message does not establish whether the physical piece exists.

  18. Ask for a length that is not listed

Ask for a length that is not listed.

A no-match result describes this rack list, not fresh physical stock.

  19. Read the no-match result

    Read the no-match result.

Check the list and physical rack before deciding to cut new stock.
