Edit and prove a label layout
Change a draft layout, recover from invalid geometry and inspect the canonical saved proof.
For authors
Read these instructions on any device. Watch or practise a chapter on a desktop or laptop, with a desktop or mobile application layout. Demonstrations use sample data and simulated scanners.
Edit and prove a label layout
- Open the prepared template draft
Open the prepared template draft.
A draft is separate from the published template. Changes here do not affect accepted labels or live rules.
- Select the SKU text object
Select the SKU text object.
Choose the SKU object using the object list. Numeric properties are in millimetres and the safe print margin is enforced.
- Try an out-of-range position
Try an out-of-range position.
The property is refused before it can enter a saved revision. Read the announced error and correct the value.
- Set the SKU position to eight millimetres
Set the SKU position to eight millimetres.
Correct the position within the permitted range. Autosave retains a revision, but it does not publish a release.
- Apply and review the saved change
Apply and review the saved change.
Moving focus completes the field edit. Check that the saved revision number advances before preparing a proof.
- Render the saved layout proof
Render the saved layout proof.
The canonical renderer produces the retained PNG and PDF from the saved revision. Screen appearance alone does not qualify a physical printer.
