Audience: Operator

Use made-up files for practice. FeedBench checks on this device only. No file is uploaded or sent into a live product.

## Check a CSV without changing its values

1. **Start a file check**

   Start a file check.

Start a temporary check. Your file stays in this tab until you choose to save it on this device.

2. **Open the paste box**

   Open the paste box.

Paste text when you do not need to select a file. FeedBench does not change the original values.

3. **Paste the semicolon file**

   Paste the semicolon file.

Use this made-up file. Keep 000017 as written and check which character separates its columns.

4. **Use the pasted text**

   Use the pasted text.

Place the pasted text into this local check. Nothing is sent to a server.

5. **Choose semicolons as the separator**

   Choose semicolons as the separator.

Choose the separator used by your file. FeedBench does not guess or silently change it.

6. **Confirm the separator and column names**

Confirm the separator and column names.

Check that the separator is right and the first record holds the column names, then confirm it.

7. **Choose what to do with the file**

Choose what to do with the file.

Continue only after the file layout is confirmed.

8. **Run the local file check**

   Run the local file check.

Check the file as written. This checks its structure, not the current state of a factory system.

9. **Download a report without private rows**

Download a report without private rows.

The default PDF contains counts and problem locations. It leaves out your values unless you explicitly add records.

10. **Save the work on this device**

Save the work on this device.

Save on a device you control. Local work is not a cloud backup or an approved production import.

11. **Download a portable backup**

   Download a portable backup.

Keep a backup if you need to reopen this work elsewhere. It contains your files and settings, so store it securely.
