Review a CSV and generate a batch

Map and review a prepared CSV, retain exact strings and inspect the completed batch and its page mapping.

Read these instructions on any device. Watch or practise a chapter on a desktop or laptop, with a desktop or mobile application layout. Demonstrations use sample data and simulated scanners.

Review a CSV and generate a batch

  1. Load the prepared two-bin file

    Load the prepared two-bin file.

This visible training control supplies a prepared local CSV to the real importer. In the product, choose your own local file.

  2. Map the location column

    Map the location column.

Match the location column explicitly. Column headings and values remain separate; leading zeroes stay as text.

  3. Map the description column

    Map the description column.

Review each mapping instead of assuming the suggested columns are correct.

  4. Map the stores area column

    Map the stores area column.

Optional printed fields can be included or left unmapped. Unmapped columns are shown as ignored.

  5. Map the part-number column

    Map the part-number column.

Part numbers remain exact strings. Mapping one does not automatically bind the barcode to it.

  6. Map the copy-count column

    Map the copy-count column.

Mapped copy counts must be whole numbers from one to one hundred. Review them before applying the file.

  7. Review the delimiter and mapping

    Review the delimiter and mapping.

Applying the file replaces the current dataset. Download the old project file first if you need it.

  8. Apply the reviewed CSV mapping

    Apply the reviewed CSV mapping.

The imported records now drive the real card maker. The original rows remain available for comparison in this session.

  9. Go on to the print profile

Go on to the print profile.

The print profile opens once every included card is ready; until then, the button says what to do first. It holds the printer resolution, barcode type and copies.

  10. Choose the printer resolution

    Choose the printer resolution.

Choose the resolution of the printing computer’s printer. This example uses 203 DPI; CardBench cannot detect the printer.

  11. Choose QR output for the batch

Choose QR output for the batch.

Use a scanner that reads the selected format. This changes the symbol, not the exact text it returns.

  12. Check the card and generate the PDF

Check the card and generate the PDF.

The real worker checks the text and barcode fit, then makes the PDF. Its preview uses those completed bytes.

  13. Download the checked PDF

    Download the checked PDF.

The PDF already contains the requested pages and copies. Print it at actual size on the printing computer. Downloading it does not prove a card printed.

  14. Open the scan test and file details

Open the scan test and file details.

The scan-test file contains the selected actual identifiers. Review them before saving or sharing it.

  15. Download the PDF page mapping

    Download the PDF page mapping.

The manifest identifies the generated PDF, pages, copies and values. It contains operational identifiers and is not a redacted summary.

  16. Download the editable project file

    Download the editable project file.

Keep an editable project file as well as a PDF; CardBench keeps nothing in the browser. It preserves the current fields and print profile, but not the original CSV review history.

Keep exact identifiers and print at actual size. This training does not qualify physical printers or scanners.
