## Observe declared changeover phases

1. **Start a local timing study**

   Start a local timing study.

This lesson times your real practice taps with the browser clocks. It never measures a machine or validates a labour standard.

2. **Capture the exact station code**

   Capture the exact station code.

000017 is declared context. Scanning a station never starts the clock or operates a machine.

3. **Describe the observed activity**

   Describe the observed activity.

The activity is the observer’s description. It does not identify an employee or determine performance.

4. **Choose phase-by-phase changeover**

   Choose phase-by-phase changeover.

Last-good and first-good are your declared observation boundaries. The factory’s normal acceptance process still applies.

5. **Name the first observed phase**

   Name the first observed phase.

Give the first phase a plain name before timing begins.

6. **Move to changeover timing**

   Move to changeover timing.

Check the station, activity and first phase before starting your observation.

7. **Declare the last-good boundary**

   Declare the last-good boundary.

Start the real browser timer at your declared boundary. This is an observation, not an inspection decision.

8. **Name the next phase**

   Name the next phase.

Prepare the name before tapping the phase boundary.

9. **Record a phase boundary**

   Record a phase boundary.

The first phase ends and Fit tooling starts on this actual tap. All known phases contribute to whole changeover.

10. **Declare the first-good boundary**

   Declare the first-good boundary.

Finish the observation and review the known phases. A complete elapsed total never grants product release.
