## Hold an unknown item for review

1. **Start scanning**

   Start scanning.

   Start scanning before presenting an item. Each complete code keeps its leading zeroes.

2. **Try an unknown code**

   Try an unknown code.

   An unknown item is held for review. It is not quietly added to a known stock line.

3. **Keep the unknown scan for review**

   Keep the unknown scan for review.

   The proposed quantity is held in Review. Nothing is counted until an authorised person resolves the unknown item.

4. **Pause scanning**

   Pause scanning.

   Pause before changing screens or putting the device down. A scan received while paused is not counted.

5. **Finish counting and review**

   Finish counting and review.

   Review separates counted items, zeroes and missing counts. The example still has uncounted locations.
