Inspect and complete one bracket

Acquire a station, scan a unit, correct an invalid entry and complete its two approved checks.

For operators

Operator access is required. The recorded site, people, units and method are fictional. Approved requirements and registered source data are prepared before this lesson.

Read these instructions on any device. Watch or practise a chapter on a desktop or laptop, with a desktop or mobile application layout. Demonstrations use sample data and simulated scanners.

Inspect and complete one bracket

  1. Open the inspection station

    Open the inspection station.

You are signed in as Sam, with operator access only. The fictional site has a separately approved bracket inspection plan.

  2. Choose your physical station

    Choose your physical station.

Choose Inspection bench 1, where you are doing the work.

  3. Take control of the station

    Take control of the station.

Acquire the named station before starting an inspection. This does not start a unit.

  4. Focus the unit scanner field

    Focus the unit scanner field.

Scan the unit in front of you. This demonstration enters a fictional barcode through the same keyboard scanner field.

  5. Scan the unit

    Scan the unit.

The scan looks up the registered unit and its order details. It does not create or release a unit.

  6. Review the unit and selected checks

Review the unit and selected checks.

Check the unit, order, drawing and selected checks against the physical work. Approved rules have selected the checks.

  7. Confirm the physical unit

    Confirm the physical unit.

Confirm only the unit you have physically checked.

  8. Start this inspection

    Start this inspection.

The server starts one inspection using the approved plan and the confirmed unit.

  9. Open the started inspection

    Open the started inspection.

Record each required observation in the unit and precision shown.

  10. Enter a wrongly formatted reading

    Enter a wrongly formatted reading.

A comma is not accepted as the decimal separator. This example demonstrates the refusal.

  11. See the entry refused

    See the entry refused.

No observation was saved. Correct the entry from your actual reading; do not change the measurement to make it pass.

  12. Enter the actual millimetre reading

    Enter the actual millimetre reading.

Use a full stop and enter the observed 10.1000 millimetres. This equals the approved upper limit.

  13. Record the numeric observation

    Record the numeric observation.

The exact reading is retained. Continue with the next required check.

  14. Open the visual finish check

    Open the visual finish check.

Follow the approved visual method for this physical unit.

  15. Record the observed finish

    Record the observed finish.

Choose Pass only when the observed finish meets the approved method.

  16. Save the finish observation

    Save the finish observation.

The finish observation is retained with this inspection.

  17. Review completion

    Review completion.

All required observations must be present. A failed check can be recorded and completed, but its hold remains.

  18. Record the completion reason

    Record the completion reason.

    Describe the completed inspection.

  19. Complete this attempt

    Complete this attempt.

Check the resulting status. Completion and release are separate decisions.

  20. Review the retained source details

    Review the retained source details.

This example has conforming observations and no further release requirement, so it is released. The approved plan and source details stay attached to the record.

Check the current release status before moving the unit on. A PDF, scan or completed attempt alone is not release authority.
